I'm new to the world of overclocking, and want to ask a question. I'm going to be buying a new computer for college and was wondering what all of you would recommend. I want a fairly cheap yet powerful pc. I also want to try my hand at overclocking. Any opinions?

Are you just going to be using it for schoolwork? Or gaming too?

Anyway, AMD is the way to go - they offer better performance and cheaper prices.

For overclocking, I'd say AMD is the way to go. You can control both multiplier and FSB, so you have alot more flexibility. As for speed, I'd try to get my hands on a AXIAR 1 ghz athlon. They overclock well to about 1.4-1.5 as long as you cool them well. That's pretty much the most bang you're gonna get for your buck.

That oughta void your warrenty!
