hey, i probably sound like a repetative noob, but because verizon does
not use sim cards i was wondering if it is possible to have different
phones, but somehow change the esn on the phone. i was reading on the
verizon site and it said that they don't use sim cards but electric
serial numbers. if i were to buy a different phone from maybe ebay, is
there a way to switch service without having to go throu a verizon
store. thanks for any help.

Yes. You go to the VZW website and change the ESN for
that line. From the ESN on your old phone to the ESN on
your new phone. Usually within a very few minutes your
new phone has service and your old phone doesn't.

If you have an account at www.verizionwireless.com, you can do it there. Or you can call the VZW Business Office and give them the necessary information. Whichever method you use, you then dial *228 on the new phone and use option 1 to activate the new phone and deactivate the old phone.
BTW, this is the procedure used when the VZW Store runs out of stock and the new phone is delivered as a parcel to a customer's home.
