Glaciator weight - a problem?

On this thread people seem to be worried about the Glaciator's weight - is this justified?

http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=634415#634415

I don't really get what Andy (the designer of the Glaciator) means, but from what I can understand the fact that the Glaciator is nearly twice the weight of the Swiftech isn't that relivent as about 90% of the weight is added by the tight HSF clips - am I right?

If so, does that mean this isn't really a problem apart from rough transport where it will be jolted, causing considerable force momentarily? I never transfer my computer more than 3 feet, so this wouldn't really be a problem.

Cheers,
Xain

If you dont plan on moving you pc around a lot I shouldnt worry about it, though I am suprised they use a clip rather than bolting to the board for that size of HSF, the maze waterblock I used weighed well over a pound (and when you actually hold it in your hand- its HEAVY) but that was bolted, however as mentioned in the link you posted the clips are aparantly well in spec for the weight.
I made the link you posted clickable <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=634415#634415" target="_new">HERE</A>

Ive owned the Glaciator for 2 months now. Cant ask for a more effective and quiet CPU cooler for 35 bucks! Yes...the vaunted Swiftech 462 gets high marks...as it should for its high price...but the issue for me is bang for the buck...and...this cooler comes with a packet of Arctic II. With all that as a benchmark...the Swiftech loses to the Glaciator. Oh yes...I believe the Glaciator price has just dropped. Check their website and see.

I want to die like my Grandfather...in my sleep...not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I'm more interested in noise levels. I have a Globalwin WBK38 which is fairly good, but too noisy. I want something about as effective (or more, I won't complain :) ) but without a 46Db Delta...

I'm getting it for £42 (inc. tax) from www.overclock.co.uk which is a good price I think. It's £10 less than the Swiftech. BTW, the exchange rate from $ to £ for computer hardware is 1:1 - they seem to forget that it should be cheaper here in the UK...

OK, I'm convinced this is bullshit apart from usage. A new review:
<A HREF="http:// http://www.pcpowerzone.co.uk/reviews39_1.html " target="_new">http:// http://www.pcpowerzone.co.uk/reviews39_1.html </A>
says the clips are easier to put on than most (with my Globalwin WBK38 I need a screw driver and I trash my thumbs) so the pressure on the core must be less than with my globalwin. Jolts (dropping it/transporting it) will still be a worry, but that's all.

Time to shell out me thinks :p
