All of my printers disappeared. It will not allow me to
install a printer. The list to install from never appears
only the message "operation could not be completed". I
have never had a problem before and I am logged in as
administrator. Checked for virus with Norton and found
none. Anyone know how I can get the printer install to
work again?

Found the problem. The print spooler in administrative
settings was disabled. Printers all came back when I
enabled it and rebooted. The question is what disabled
it?

It's a fragile little thing, almost anything could have upset it. Unusual
for it to disable itself, usually it just stops. If that happens, you can
simply use the Command Prompt and type:
net start spooler
