I bought Skyrim legally from a game shop and put product key into Steam. All goes well, it installs and then when I go to play and click on play it comes up with a patch error message.

I'll Try and put up a picture of it

You need to get the latest patch for the game. If you're running it through Steam, it should have automatically updated it to the latest patch.

Also, the error message you posted shows something to the effect that "your game version is NOT supported/ supported graphics" or something like that. Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

What are your system specs?
