I am looking for a new laptop for gaming. I want a laptop, not a desktop because i travel every weekend, so i need some portability. Now ive been looking for a while and the Asus g53 looks like the "best" for under a thousand.

Heres the specs:
Intel Core i7 2670QM Processor 2.2GHz
8GB DIMM RAM
750GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560M

I just got those specs off amazon so i cant go into detail.
Now, how will this laptop run intensive games like Battlefield 3 or Crysis or something. Will it be able to get medium settings? high? even ultra? Im not sure so if anyone knows, let me know.

Can you reccomend other laptops that you think are better than this for under a $1000? I multitask alot so I think ill need a quad core i7 processor. Ideas?

Thanks!

You'll need to supply GPU information.

The short answer is if that is using the CPU's built in GPU, no. You won't play BF:3 or Cry:2 on anything but baby settings. They are *serviceable* for gaming, but not very good.

If you want to play current gen games on high+ settings on a laptop you will need to invest more than $1,000.

I found these benchmarks:

http://hothardware.com/Reviews/MSI-GT683R242US-Review/?page=6

It is not your laptop that was tested, but a very comparable one (slightly different processor, more RAM, same GPU, so on) The games tested were all a little less demanding than the games you mentioned. Sort of hit and miss as to how well it runs games in general, and depends on the resolution of course.

Looks pretty mediocre to me. Bear in mind that review is over a year old (the 560M is an old GPU) so current game performance is probably lower too.

But at your budget, "pretty mediocre" is all you can really expect to get.
