I recently bought a Lenovo z580.

It has an intel core i5 3120m 3.1 GHZ and an GeForce gt 630m.
It said this laptop should be able to play Skyrim fluently on medium graphics. But I have an fps of about 20 on low settings!
I tried putting it on windowed, then it went even slower (15 fps)!

Ram should definitely not be a proble, I have 8 gb DDR3 1600 mhz ram.
So, what could be the problem here?

Have you updated the drivers?

The NVidia driver is for some reason not downloadable, you have to do with the drivers the manifacturer has given to you.

That's the problem, it doesn't. Low gives 15-20

Nevermind, it was not using the NVidia, but the intel hd 4000. Running very smooth now

I hate it when that happens! :)

Ugh, it was always using NVidia. I was in a building which made my FPS raise =(. Still 15-20 when outside. I'm sure my specs should be able to play Skyrim better than 20 fps on 800x600 on low settings.

Anybody got any idea what might be the problem?

I would suggest that you look at the Tweakguides website for the Skyrim guide to adjusting settings on your machine to maximise playability. Cheers

try disabling antialiasing and anisotropic filtering in settings, also turn down shadows, I used to play on a laptop with a GT 330M on high with no AA or AF and turned shadows all the way down, it seemed to fix the problem.
