Hi All!
I've got an observation for u about ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5.538.0.1.
From the Task Manager, i can see that the TrueVector Service (vsmon.exe)
takes about 100 MB of RAM for itself.
I think it's a huge amount of memory and i can't understand why.
I suppose it's correct intrinsically (because it remained the same even when
i restarted the PC) but it left me very disappointed.
Can anyone give me his opinion?
Shall i manage to change my personal Firewall? And if i have to, which do u
suggest me? (According to reliability and usability of Zapro).

My vsmon.exe shows about 8.5Mb at the moment. Not sure if it is related or
not, but I know the tvDebug file can grow to astronomical proportions. In
XP, disable ZoneAlarm. Then go to C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs and delete
tvDebug.log if it is excessively large. Then fire up ZA again. Currently
mine is about 500K.

You might want to make sure you are reading the information correctly.
Mine is currently at 7.9 MB (7,987 KB).

Yep, mine is 6.56 (6,565 kb with a log file of 16,672 kb
100 meg of ram would cripple your system, unless you have almost a gig
of ram

I think i'm reading correctly. In my Task Manager I can read 110.108 KB of
used memory

You've got a lot more patience than I do, if I had any program using 100
meg of ram from my system, I'd find another to replace it in a hurry.

Hi
Like the other posters I can't believe that ZAP uses that much memory on
your system, my vsmon only uses about 10Mb. The only thing that makes ZAP
use lots of memory, in my experience, is running p2p programs - it tends to
think the normal p2p connections are 'attacks' and will consume tons of
memory and cpu cycles.
I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions but as you have the paid-for
version have you contacted Zonelabs for support? You could also ask your
question in the Zonelabs forums here http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs and
see if anyone can help.

Do you have the companion to Zone Alarm VisualZone 5.7 you can get it at
http://www.visualizesoftware.com/ this is free & will give you a report
as to what's trying to get in, maybe someone is performing a denial of
service to your PC.
A 2nd thing to try is make sure that nothing on your ZA program control
is set to server.
The 3rd thing to try is to change all items in program control to ask
for permission & then when you connect to the internet don't open
browser or e-mail & see what it asks access for, then 1 by 1 open
something & see what it asks access for. If Svchost asks for access see
what happens if you say no.
& between steps see how much memory is being used.
Have you run on-line virus scans, as well as programs from
http://www.grc.com/default.htm to close know vulnerable open ports if
you are running anything above Win 98 se
Maybe a memory test program, maybe some of your memory is going bad.

I think it depends on the use of p2p softwares as u suggested...
I'll try ti find a solution
