Hi,
I'm going to give this 1.2 Ghz 200MHz FSB processor to my friend, and I was wondering of I bought that Alpha cooler, could I get the FSB from 200 to 266, and then change teh clock multiplier so it's still at 1.2GHz. Will that work; will teh alpha be sufficient cooling?

Yeup, it should work. I've seen it done before. (As long as your motherboard and RAM are ok)

Yeah, you must have a fsb 133/266 motherboard for it to work. However 0.0000001% of cpus cannot handle the fsb increase so you have an ever so tiny chance of having it not work.

It'll be an AD11, so it can handle 133FSB no problem (I have one and it's a 266MHz FSB 1.2 GHz T-Bird). Just that the processor I'm giving to my friend (and b/c of this building his comp) will be 200MHz FSB, and I think he'd like it if it was at 266MHz.

if you just changed the fsb to 133 but didnt change the multiplier (needs to be unlocked) then it will be trying to post at 133 x 9, if you increase the fsb, you will need to lower the multiplier accordingly to get the same speed
