Network connection prolbems

Hello,
I'm trying to hook my Xbox up to Xbox live, but it can't connect to my network.My router is built in to my computer, i tried manually typing in my IP address,sub-net and gateway. I also tried bridging the connections.My Xbox is plugged in using a wired connection.My computer is running on windows xp. So if anyone can help it will highly be appreciated. My computer is running on windows xp.

your pc has a router in it? or is it just wifi?

thanks this problem was solved a week ago. all i had to do is share the connection.
