Has anyone looked at what happens to the CPU temperature when you turn the computer off and the fan stops?
I've been wondering how high it spikes and how long it takes to cool down ever since I saw Tom's video of an AMD chip going up in smoke after a few seconds without a heatsink. I'm almost afraid to turn off my pc.
Does the heatsink alone, without the fan running continue to cool enough so that I'm not draining a month of life from the CPU every time I turn the system off?
Sorry if this has already been covered, but it's a difficult search with no unique terms.
Yes, don't worry!! Once the computer is off the CPU stops actually generating more heat, and the heatsink will quickly spread the remaining heat out. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor
Your CPU will not get 1/1000000000000000000000000000 degree hotter when you shut down. The power goes out from the CPU before the fan even stops spinning.
