Free Upgrade Program

I've looked and looked but can't find anything about this.

I know that there is a free upgrade program (to windows 7) when you purchase windows vista ultimate. I can get a copy of vista ultimate cheap through my school, but I'm assuming its not a retail copy. Am I still eligible for the free upgrade?

I don't know whether or not it is possible to get a free upgrade with a student copy, but you may be able to get Windows 7 from your school for a low price when it comes out.
