I was thinking about the worry free gaurantee, and imagine that VZW changes
their promotions every three months (for the better, but still changes their
promotions every three months)

Now: You have the option to change to any qualifying calling plan or airtime
promotion at any time BUT

As Verizon changes its plan/promotions about every 3 months; this means that
if you change minutes, after they change promotions, that you "can" change
to any qualifying plan, or airtime promotion at anytime IF YOU REALIZE IT
WILL most likely extend your contract almost all of the time.

While I think VZW is the best, with all the promotional changes, worry free,
isn't really worry free when it comes to plan changes or minute changes
(another form of plan change).

Yes, and your comments have even more impact when you consider changes
between AC1 and AC2. Gee, I'd like to lose 30-40% of the geographic coverage
in my home state, and my ability to use data for the cost of minutes.

Changing plans is anything but "worry free"

Which is of course stated on the contract you signed, which no one
reads.. :)

we were told in training that the old roam areas would become a credit
card access area in which case the customer would have the ability to
use a credit card number to pay for service directly instead of VZW
being the middle man. but like I say i havent been to any old roaming
areas yet to see if this is true.

Huh?? My understanding is that under AC2, your phone will show "No
Service" if it cannot find a system in the PURL, just like it would if
you set "Home Only" and your phone couldn't find your home system. Also,
under the old Auto A /Auto B, if you have it set for "Auto B", but all
that is available is a non-PURL system on A, you likewise have "No
Service". AC2 is going to behave differently??

The coverage from verizon did not change. Roaming agreements and prls
change all the time, and not just with verizon. None of the carriers
guarantee that you will always be able to roam on a certain carrier.
None of them guarantee that any of the carriers in an area can be roamed
on. None of them guarantee that their service will work inside
buildings. None of them guarantee that their service will work every
square foot of their own coverage area.

Yes, I know it is "PRL". #%*!@ spell checker changed "PRL" to "PURL"
(whatever that is) and I missed it. Sorry about that.

I agree that Verizon is wrong here. When I bought my contract in a
Verizon store I was told about being able to switch to any plan at any
time with no penalty or contract extention. I asked if that would
extentd my contract and I was told NO byt the customer service rep
there. That was one of the reasons I decided to go with Verizon.

Now I know some will say shame on me for believeing the salesmen but
it was a Verizon salesmen and that doesn't make it right. It is not
like I did not ask. I specifically asked and I was told specifically
that during my contract I could switch from any plan to any plan
without extending my contract and that is not true.

Then you were mislead. If this is a deal breaker for you
then you should take it up with VZW corporate (Email).
I think it would be reasonable to expect that they should
allow you to terminate your service, return the subsidized
equipment for what you paid for it, and waive the ETF.

The misleading part is about extending your contract. Without
extending your contract you can switch to any "qualifying"
plan. That translates to "currently offered and no promotions".
Store reps especially don't seem to go into enough detail on
that. Often they do say it but it's natural for a new customer
not to hear it. What people tend to hear is "you can switch
to anything at any time", next item... Reasonable translation
of anything close to that. Kind of like fine print.

well man this is what i was taught by the corp trainer, but like i say,
i havent been there to try it out. i am interested to see what happens
cause i tend to believe like you do, but who knows.

actually they added 70 new SID (system ids) under the new AC 2, lots of
new coverage in NV and much better coverage in SW VA and KY.

Exactly my point. Here is my suggestion:
1) Admit to yourself (VZW) that ALL of your plans are promotional plans.
2) Admit that, in response to market dynamics, YOU change promotional plans
aprox every 3 months. (and we thank you for it... usually they are MORE for
less... excellent!)
3) Recognize that a reasonable person will interpet the worry free gaurantee
at face value, and that it could be misleading, because after 3 months, it
is UNLIKELY you can change anything without extending your contract.
Anything (minutes, coverage, adding a share line, etc)

My opinion is then that worry free (below) only applies to the length of the
current promotion, and has no relevance to your contract, but will REQUIRE
you to extend your contract 75% of the time.

Now, instead of waiting for another class action suit, consider backing up
your worry free gaurantee: to change your plan or minutes anytime over the
length of your contract, WITHOUT extending the agreement. Now that would be
fantastic... be a leader in ethics, the same way you are the leader in
quality and customer service. dr wm

require specific equipment. You become eligible to take advantage of
equipment upgrades at promotional pricing during the last two months of your
contract period. If you are not upgrading equipment within the final 2
months of your contract, you may have to pay full retail price. Promotional
offers will require an extension of your Customer Agreement.

IIRC Cingular does just that...considers you either under contract or
not when changing plans, and even if you have 1 day left on your
contract, you'd get ALL promotions. But, even if you bring your own
phone, Cingular still gives you most of the extras, such as nationwide
LD, caller ID, voicemail, night/weekend minutes, et cetera. The only
thing Cingular won't give you if you're not going to contract is mobile
to mobile minutes.

It *is* possible, just that Verizon Communications has opted not to take
that route with Verizon Wireless.

i aggree with you, and by god if i made more than 25k a year working a
sales rep job, well then maybe the upper eschelons of management might
listen to me! haha. but as always in america, the rich (not the
right) win. i do my small part to explain exactly what you said to
customers, but unfortunately i do not have the power to change the
system. REVLOUTION!!!! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!! hahaha.
