No, I am not talking about my absence from the 'Other' forum for the last few months. I have actually purposefully stayed away from here just because I don't have the time that is required if you venture into the 'other' forum.
What my post is really about is all the stupid people who are showing up in the community now. Flamers without a clue and people who make pointless posts just for the sake of being terds.
I think, as much as it could be bad, we need moderators in some of the forums. I don't want to limit anyone's ability to express their thoughts, but it is getting outright ridicolous. And if people want to have a good time without discussing computers that is what the 'other' forum is for.
Anyone else fed up with the new rash of incompetent flamers?

Wow, the new age of THGC is really sensitive, too much in fact. You sir have not been here during the great flame wars and troll era of 2001-2002! Man, if yall newcomers were here then, you'd have fled in a roll instead of just complaining here.
D00d, they're not even real, they're made up by someone here that I don't know who. The minute the forum degrades for real, I'll notice it and tell you all about it, because I've never left this place for more than 3 days, in 2 years!

It's the real trolls and jerks that ruin the forum. It's been a while since we've had one.

Oh my. Look up posts by Kennyshin. They're mostly in the CPU forum and many of the posts have probably been deleted, but if you sort the CPU section by post count you should find it.
Then there was amdmeltdown and fugger back in the day. Fugger stopped. Then there was the compaq guy who got mauled everytime he posted.
In the other section, look up "The List" and see all the people who got put in there. The list got so big that we split it in half.
Look up iceman10c's posts for a good laugh.
<font color=red>GOD</font color=red> <font color=blue>BLESS</font color=blue> <font color=red>AMERICA</font color=red>
Then there was Moneymike. Anyone remember bud....I need to get him back so we can start some sh!t up again bwahaha.
Hilbert space is a big place.
Damn man, my nerd alert device just exploded when I read that
. Yeah, we need to bring those days back, they were fun. If nothing happens in the next 2 weeks I'll start a flame war about how a GF2MX can beat a r9800 pro.....I'll do it, u know it! And Puerto Rico seems to have done me well....I flirted more in 1 week than I do in 6 months there, and did a lot of fun stuff, stayed out till 3 every night
. Pretty calm now oddly enuf.

Oh, and don't worry about abercrombie6. I contacted Fredi after seeing his spam and he deleted the posts and banned him.

Don't think I've ever seen/talked to a person with "sk8" (xxsk8terxx) in their name that wasn't a total jackass
It's all good ^_^
Sk8er is ok. He just has a bad temper and likes to make conversations more colorful.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't take showers.
The first one is votes to put on the list, the second is votes to take off the list. I believe we had it setup so that 5 votes (on-off) put someone on The List.
I made The List back when things were really bad. Things are not even close to as bad as they used to be so I don't think The List is necessary anymore.

Funny since I was the one who maintained it for pretty much the whole life of the thing. Sort the Other section from last year by thread views and you'll see both Lists.

I was hoping that by making the List we'd get an ignore option, but we never did so I just kept updating the thing until last summer when Svol took over and it died.

I've been on forums that have a little "Report this Post to Admin" button underneath every post. I wonder why this forum doesn't have something like that? It would make it easier to keep track of trolls, since more people would be inclined to report them immediately...
Actually, come to think of it, this forum seems kind of antiquated compared to most of them that I've seen. I mean, it's pretty much "Write-it; Post-it; Read it" format. I like the way private messaging works, but beyond that, there's not a lot to recommend it. For example, most forums mark threads on which you've posted, so its easy to keep track. This forum seems to mark threads you've read, but doesn't make a distinction. I dunno, it just seems like a lot of other forums are way more advanced, and I'm not just talking about avatars and images in the sig-lines.

Mainly because every little shite who lost an argument would immediately hit the button, and the admin would have no option but to take the feature away again.
Too many members. Too many folk popping in and out from time to time. You can never keep up with all of em.

Yeah...it sounds that way in theory, but like I've said--I've seen it on many other sites where it's worked, including Freeper, where there are some horrendous flamewars happening at all times. It's just up to admin to determine who abuses the privelege and who is realistic. People who don't deserve to be banned simply don't get reported often, whereas a troll would immediately flood the admin with complaints.
If it wasn't for the fact that so many other sites have implemented something similar successfully, I would probably agree with you.
Those who live in glass houses shouldn't take showers.
Oh just because he pissed some people off with some serious spamming.
My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on
Why should you be there?
My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on
Yeah... last Summer the trolling and spamming stopped (mainly because Corsair3200/Labdog left the forum)... so the list quietly moved back. I maneged the list when DH was on vacation.
But I used to keep record of the list in a .txt document which still was on my PC.
It is a shame the list never worked though... no-one got banned because of it and most trolls didn't stop because of it.
My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on
This may seem sad but I sometimes miss some of them. Probably because beating on one of them when they made a stupid comment or statement was good outlet for frustration/stress.

Personally, I've just about had it here myself, its like walking through a patch of weeds, trying to sort out the posts that actually need help, so many posts for please advise me what to choose, to build my possible system, disguised as a help me post. People posting, Please help me!, in one section then the same poster, advising someone in another section accurately, with a more difficult problem than the one he or she posted, Well, Excuse me, if you're that smart? Why couldn't you solve your own problem? No offence to anyone here, but if I'm going to build a new system, I would research it on my own, I wouldn't even consider asking someones advice here, except Toejam, I like him because, he doesn't try to argue or persuade he just helps, he'll give you the information to solve your problem, whether you listen or not is your problem, but he's accurate, from my observations, also I've never posted asking for help with some problem, if I have a problem, I break out my mule choking PC repair books, and find the answer myself. Its a good feeling, to actually help someone through a problem they're having, and I don't mind helping someone, I've gone above and beyond helping some people, for some stupid reason, thats what I thought THGF was all about, but it seems lately people can't even seem to post in the right section, no wonder they have problems. Its frustrating sometimes, when the exact same questions keep reappearing, over and over and over. Maybe I just need a break from this place for a while, and maybe you all can get it straightened out, but I doubt it.
<b><font color=purple>Details, Details, Its all in the Details, If you need help, Don't leave out the Details.</font color=purple></b>
I think it would have been funny if you posted that whole thing with no punctuation.

<b><font color=purple>Details, Details, Its all in the Details, If you need help, Don't leave out the Details.</font color=purple></b>
I was joking.
Trust me, we've all complained and been frustrated with the morons that come here, but they cycle through and all is well. Just help who you can. Ask questions when you have them. Stay out of the sections that are driving you nuts for a while.

Heck sure Flamethrower, if I had known back then that the list existed I would have nominated you
It got so bad that I stopped going into the CPU section for pretty well all of 01 and 02. I only just ventured back in about 2 months ago.
Fugger actually posts intelligently now. It suprised the heck outa me the first time I saw him post some usefull information. I nearly fell out of my chair. I haven't seen hide nor hair of AMD_Meltdown in over a year. Flamethrower always mixed good advice with flame wars.

Anyways i found the list, It was in the 2002 archive and damn that was big. I was using my older POS computer and it hung up twice opening up the thread.

I personally don't know the guy, but in the past (especially on ebay) the 2 terrible sellers I've had out of 120 both had "sk8" in their name. Or on Ultima Online back in the day, some ass named monkeysk8er would always run around spamming his website
So I'm sorry if my statement looked like it was pointed at the Tom's Hardware "Sk8er"
It's all good ^_^
