loses local printer after reboot

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax (More info?)

i have a windows XP pro pc on a domain.

it will retain installed network printers, but it won't
keep the local ones; i.e., if i add a local printer, it
won't show up in the printers folder upon a reboot. i
have to add it in again.

why is that?
