can someone tell me what the dimensions are on these holes? or point the way to find it? i am helping someone construct a waterblock for it, a spir@l seen here
http://dtekcustoms.safeshopper.com/7/31.htm?177

i am not affiliated with dtek, and this is a private person developing the block. but the major roadblock is trying to find the dimensions, short of buying one and measuring it myself (i always get them wrong, don't know why, probably my two left thumbs).

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I measured my ASUS A7V266-e and it is approximately (center to center) 3.6cm x 6.6cm and the diameter of the hole varies according to manufacture. Mine is .4cm.

i think that there are two sizes of holes.
for the larger holes, there are adapters.
i am almost certain of this.
i would measure mine for you, but i just finished putting my system back together today...so i would like to not have to take my computer apart...
what you could do is buy a heatsink that uses the holes, and see how they do it.
i think that alpha makes one.
i was thinking about getting a cooler that uses the mounting holes because it holds the cooler a bit firmer on the cpu, without the risk of it falling off...or the lugs breaking.

Not 100% sure on your question as you mention the socket 478, (Intel P4), but the spiral block you link to is shown with an AMD cpu in the image?.

Either way I put both links here for you. Click the appropriate link and download the Pdf file. The mobo hole specs are on page 37/38 of the Intel doc & can't remember which page in the AMD one. You'll need to have Adobe Acrobat reader to view them but they give all the measurements you should require.
