Another question on OC'ing the XP chips:

At the end of the article it mentioned recommending a good (powerful?) liquid cooling system and that air cooling wouldn't cut it. In another post someone having an OC'ed 1800XP chip running at 33-43 w/ a PAL cooler and Delta fan. I can't even keep a stock 1400 TBird that cool with an SK6 sink and fan setup. What gives? Would something like the latest Koolance offering (mid-tower) be sufficient to OC the 1900XP?

couple of things.

how good is your case cooling?
cpu cooling means jacksquat if u cant get air in and out of your case.

how much thermal paste did u use? when attaching my new heatsink i used an amazingly tiny amount, applied with a razor blade, just enough to coat the entire core, no more.

P.S. i installed a swiftech MCX-462. even better than the alpha. got an extra 100mhz out of my chip. 1200C -> 1450 @ 145.

Excuse me for a moment. I need to drive my ergonomic wheely chair over a sheet of bubble wrap!
