Whats Faster?

is a celeron 1ghz faster than a pentium 3 800mhz?this is going to ge a gaming machine and a pentium 4 is not an option.thanks.

I think the 800mhz PIII at 133mhz fsb is faster than Celeron 1G. What's more PIII comes with 256k L2 cahce, Celeron 1G got 128k only.

If your going cheap, get the PIII 700 and overclock it to 933. With a 97% success rate at most overclockers sites, it's as close to a sure thing as you'll get.
if you really like the 800, there are two versions, the 800E and 800EB. The 800EB has a 133MHz FSB and performs much better. But even the 800E beets the Celeron 1GHz.

Take the PIII 800E, you can overclock it without any problems!

For overclocking the 700E is far superior-because it overclocks almost as far, but at a higher bus speed.
