Another user who can't fax after installing SP2 (on a fair..

I read several other posts about users experiencing problems faxing after SP2
installation and have encountered the same problem with my father's Dell
computer. The system will not send an outbound fax, which only started after
the SP2 installation. A "cannot connet to the fax service" message is all
that seems to come up. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't repair the
problem.

The system has not had any additional fax software added. nor has my dad
made any changes to the default firewall rule set , so if that is the problem
then MS may have a faulty default configuration.

I will try to walk my dad through the solution posted by A. Scott involving
deleting the registry key and then repeating the uninstall/reinstall sequence
again, and will set the service to a Manual Start Type if that fails, but I
thnk there is enough evidence from this and other postings to confirm that
this is a real problem. I hope Microsoft will acknowledge it exists and do
what is necessary to identify and post an official workaround or permanent
fix quickly.
