I got the 1400 stable at 1600. Today I added two 80mm case fans. I also added a bracket cooler with two 80mm case fans over the Geforce2MX.

Idle Temp: cpu-45*C chassis-29*C
Load temp: cpu-47*C chassis-29*C

AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1400mhz @ 1600mhz, 1.85V
Full tower case
400W power supply
Six 80mm Case Fans (two in bracket)
Four fan Hard Drive Cooler
OCZ Goliath heatsink/fan
CPU shim
Artic silver 2

I will probably be adding three 120mm case fans soon. Then I will see if I can get it to be stable at 1666mhz

what board/bios is it? and how are you loading it, it seems odd that it only goes up by 2C under load, mine goes up loads (1400 @ 1700).

I have an MSI K7 Master. I never updated the bios.

To load the processor, I usually run the 3d maze screen saver with multi colored walls. I noticed that it raises the temp more than any other program. I also ran a Quake3 demo loop for about 30 minutes.

Today, the idle temp is 40*C and load is 44*C Chassis stayed between 25-26*C. I guess the temp stays constant because of the large volume of air moving over the mother board and the Goliath is an awesome heatsink.

I think you might want to try a little bit more thoughout test than a 6 year old screensaver. It's designed to save your screen, not burn up your CPU.

You could try a program like Cure for Cancer or SETI@Home for a pretty realistic full load or a CPU burn-in program such as hotpotato or CPUBurn2 to get your CPU to the hottest it will ever be.

That's what you get for buying your computer based on color.
