Borderlands Problem. :(

So I used to play Borderlands a while back. Then I "put it down" if you will. Stopped playing and all. With Borderlands 2 coming up I figured i'd give Borderlands another go for the hell of it, however, upon start up, everything save menus and my HUD is black. Textures, models, objects, all except the gun which is there but cant really be seen. After doing everything I can think of from restarting, re-installing drives, re-installing the game, I even edited WillowGame.ini to Allow D3D10, I am out of ideas. :(

Is this the only game that this happens in? I saw your sceen shot. When you say you put it down does that mean you quit playing with your PC and it was off for how long? Or are we just talking about the game?

What are your spec's just so we can see if it is a hardwear problem or not? Get back to us and then we can move forward. Good luck.

You shouldn't be having any problem with that game with what your spec's are. I have to ask some more questions. Get back to us. I ask the questions this way so it is easier to anwser.

1. Did you just re-install your drivers or did you update them to the newer ones?
2. What is your PSU brand and wattage?
3. Is this game a Steam game?
4. Have you adjusted any setting in your CCC like trun off AA and vsync and tried compatibility mode?
5. Are your temps in the norms?
6. Is your OS Win 7 64 or 32 bit?

1. I updated them, I will try re-installing them.
2. Thermaltake TRX750.
3. Yes it is a steam game.
4. I have not adjusted them, but I do not have AA on in CCC.
5. Yes, my temps are pretty good. GFX 40~50C under load.
6. Win7 Pro 64bit.

Thank you for the answers. I don't know much about the CCC because I have never use a AMD card. In the nVidia controll panel it is called manage 3D settings in there I can disable or turn on stuff.

I guess I thought the CCC would have one very close to that. Have you tried to do the Verify Integrity of game Cache? I will post a note if you don't know how it is done. Ok we can rule out temps.

We can rule out the OS and MOBO. Drivers still could be a problem. Still need to see he Steam integrity and your PSU I hate to say but it is not that good but don't feel bad mine is even worse.

There is a list of good to bad PSU's Tier 1 is the best Tier 5 is the worst and your PSU is on Tier 5 I will link you to it. But that does mean your PSU is at fault. I mean if you are doing a lot of stuff on it.

Then it should be ok. So just about everything can be ruled out except. Drivers, Steam Integrity, and one more thing when you uninstall a game a lot of times files are left still in the system.

And if there is a problem with the game uninstalling then reinstalling the game still migh not fix it. So I am going to link you to revo uninstaller program. I had to use it on my Age of Empires III because I was having problems.

Here we go with everything and I hope some of this will help and good luck.

PSU good to bad

NOTE: When in Steam, left click on Games. Then left click on view Games Library. Right click on the Game. Then left click on properties. Then left click on local files. Then left click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
