I have an ASUS A7V266-e with AMD XP 1600 retail box. I lapped the heat sink using 80, 120, 220, 320, 300, 600, 1500 and water and then I used Artic Silver II on the CPU core and approximately where the core touches the heat sink. I do not overclock and use my computer for normal word processing and database and internet. My temperature was running 118 F before and it's running 118 F now. At overnight idle it dropped to 105 F and now overnight aftre the Artic Silver it's at 114 F. I did not notice any lower temperatures by lapping and using Artic Silver II

How are you measuring the temp? Probe, software, etc.
