Anyone overclock a K6-233?

I was going through my junk closet and came across an old K6 233 on a Supermicro P55mm98A board (Intel TX). It still has the old PCPower&cooling HSF I bought for it.

I was wondering if I can overclock this. I never really had luck overclocking Pentium I chips (I remember failing at getting a P120 to run as a P133). I know voltages usually have to be bumped up but this thing runs at 3.2v already.

You're xactly right about the V on that K6. Don't have my books with me, but remember vaguely that the K6s where hot heads and could therefore not be easely OC. Personnally, wy risk it for the little extra you will get. Make a nice little sys out of it and give it to a niece or some youngster.

That was the Pentium Crash, even Intel sites dont mention any P233 MHz processr! It was probably manufactured outside the Intel factory! I have a old P166MMX in a buyback, and while removing the fan that was glued on it, I accidently removed the film of paint that said Pentium 200 MHz, and found on the underside print that it was really a 166 MHz processor!!! The same goes for the Pentium 233 MHz.

As for the K6, I dont think it could overclock too much, but running the FSB at 75 and the processor at 263 (I have done it on my RedFox Aladdin board) could work provided he has SDRAM, I cant speculate it with EDO RAM, maybe he can give it a shot.

The voltage for all Pentium MMX processors (except overdrives and low voltage laptop processors) was 2.8v, including the 233MMX. Meanwhile, the K6-200 was 2.9v while the K6-233 was 3.2v. So which one do you think was overclocked more?
The Pentium 233MMX overclocks better than the K6-2 233. All you have to do is bump the core voltage up to 3.3v and add a good cooler, to get most to around 300MHz.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Crash - the 300, is that for the Intel or the AMD? I'm sure I have one of those lying around.

I have some sticks of PC-100 SDRAM lying around so I might use that. Currently it has two old PC-66 sticks at 32MB Each. Hey, when Win95C was out, this was a fast system with 64 MB of RAM.

Thanks for the help
