What would be considered the normal temp for an athlon 1600+ cpu when its idle? and when its under load? And at what temp should i start to worry?

I guess that around 50c is considered "normal" for that CPU.
If it gets over 55-60c then you might want to check out a new fan or try to reseat it & see if your temps goes down.

Mine is currently 37c idle and 41 under load (Toast).

Hmmm, right now mine is showing 46c, idle. guess i'll check to see how high it goes under load and then decide if i want to get a new fan or not.

thanks

If your´e not having any problems like lockups, reboots and such I don´t think it´s necessary to get a new fan.
46c is quite normal.

Perhaps your CPU will last a little longer if your temps goes down, but I´ll think it will hold a couple of years anyway!

I'm not an avid overclocker and my CPU at the manufactured speed runs at 38 Celcius at room temp of 21 Celcius.

Thats a Socket A Athlon 1GHz with an aftermarket GlobalWin FOP38 cooler.
