i konw it's possible to overclock a 1900+ into a 2000+ from THG video, but is it possible w/ a 1800+, 1700+, 1600+? if so... do ne of the other bridges have to be messed with?

p.s. is it possible to put a cd-rom on the same ide cable as a hard drive?

p.p.s. when i try to change my password for this account it won't let me go pass the 2nd char ne ideas?

it depends on the piece you have, I mean the model, stepping, rated speed etc. but you can have a AthlonXP 1500+ that is capable of doing 2000+ or even more. It only has to work at 1.67 GHz instead of 1.33, thats about 333 MHz faster than the rated speed! Although not every XP1500+ will do it, I am sure a fair number of them would at least hover around 1800~1900+ and a few will reach 2000+!

see http://www.athlonoc.com for which Athlos oc more and which dont.

You don't even need to solder to go up one step in the AMD XP rating,
just set the FSP from 133 to 140, it almost never gives trouble generaly overclocks every component slightly (performance gain) and you'll see your athlon is suddenly an XP rating higher. If you want to overclock further you'll need the THG solution though since FSB overclocking beyond 140 can cause instability and data loss on your hard drives
