New Paladin AA Idea

I feel that it would be cool to have a serf or page that would carry
armor and heal or cast minor buffs in battle. The companion will not
fight but can be killed. I toon would ahve to return to their home
city to summon or request a new companion.

How does that sound to everyone?

Sounds like someone is stealing the mule idea from Dungeon Siege. That
will never work in this game.

Count me in.

But only if Shadowknights get the equivalent Snivelling Menial to bring
us chalices of tears and carry our severed heads and whatnot.

Cheers,

It could work. The necro epics 1.5 and 2.0 have an effect called
"servant of blood," which is basically like this only more necroish
(like it steals health from mobs and gives it to your group instead of
casting heals). At least, that's how I understand it works.
Unfortunatly, my necro doesn't have the epics yet, so I can't talk from
personal experience, but it pretty much sounds like the same thing.

There is a veteran AA that summons a steadfast servant that casts minor
buffs on people.

Not so minor. One of the buffs it casts is supernal elixir,
a ~2400 point HOT.

Mine casts Swift Like the Wind a whole lot...

In fact, so far, I have not seen it cast anything else.

I think the buffs might depend on the level of the player (either the
recipient or the "veteran", I'm not sure which). I think it cast
Celestial Elixir on me (51 druid; servant belonged to 53 cleric).

One thing I did notice was that the servant seems to be about (maybe
exactly) the same level as the summoner. Last night I was running in
a low-level group and the servant was white at 17.

Well my 40 monk cant cast anything but the servant was dealing out
haste, celestial healing and an ac buff.

I think the servant is way underconned wrt the impact on play (the
other veteran things are ok but imo mainly glitter). Its good for 30
mins every day, so for the casual player (plays a few times a week an
hour or two at a shot) its a substantial bonus (but this is after only
a couple of times of playing it).

Now if it can only cast sow and gate...

It would appear to cast spells that the owner can cast, unfortunately,
the shaman one seems to be stuck in a rut casting Swift Like the Wind
over and over and over...

Nice to hear that perhaps mine may eventually cast a useful spell.
