I have Intel Tomato 5STX board which supports up to K6 300 and K6-2 266 and I have K6-2 333 CPU. Can I use it on this board by downclocking it to 266 or 300 MHz?

you can definitely use the processor by down-clocking it by setting the jumpers on the board to set 4.5x multiplier to get 300 MHz, but why would you want to do that? the board will not have any problem detecting that, only problem would be setting proper voltages. if you have one, pls send me a link to the manual of this board. I could help.

you can easily set the FSB (bus speed) to 75 MHz and the multiplier to 4.5 and get 337 MHz CPU speed! or even the 333 MHz rated speed by setting the multiplier to 5x and FSB to the standard 66 MHz.

check your motherboard manual for how to do it, or look for a charts printed on the motherboard that show you various combinations of the jumpers to get the desired FSB (bus speed) and the multiplier.

Manual is at ftp://203.135.128.104/zida/web/manual/5stx0110.pdf and the jumper settings are located at http://www.zida.com/js_5stx.htm. It seems that the multiplier of 4.5x and FSB of 75 MHz are possible and as for the voltage, it reads that the CPU needs 2.2 V and the board supports 2.2, 2.8, 2.9 V etc.

so I guess max you can run at is 4.5x75 = 337 MHz (slightly above the specs of the CPU which is fine) at 2.2 Vcore.
