Ok. managed to upgrade that F******* Bios to the latest version. Now, here's another Q: Is there any way you can run a 433mhz on a 100mhz FSB?..would be interesting to know how..
thanks

yes you can, more recent BIOSes will let you select the FSB while on older motherboards you will find a jumper block that will set the FSB to either 66, 75, 83 or 100 MHz.

A 433 MHz (66 x 6.5) Celeron will run at 650 MHz with 100 MHz FSB, too big a jump for a PPGA Mendocino chip even with core voltage increase (usually unsupported by older boards) and improving the cooling. You would be better of with 75 MHz FSB that will give you 489 MHz pretty easily!

Hey, that's great! Even managed to get it up running stable(so far) at 78 FSB! Got 500mhz workspeed right now. Good enough for my graphic apps..thanks for the tip.

yeah, i tried to put the jumper on my dads hp to the 100fsb setting..but to no avail...
it wouldnt boot...
it is a celeron500...66x7.5 pretty sure that they locked the multiplier on this thing....as, when i change the frequency in the bios...it stays the same speed in mhz....if i could lower the multiplier, and up the fsb, it would be much better off!
even if it was still at 500 mhz...it would be a BETTER 500 mhz...
anyone know how to do this?
HP 6545c win98se. 256 megs pc-100

hmmmm
maybe...maybe...
maybe i will get one for him for fathers day or something?
hehe
hope he doesnt stumble in here and read this!
would ruin the surprise!
but i just cant stand it when his computer is a 500 mhz celeron 1 runnin at 66mhz fsb...when my little brother, who is using my old computer, is using a 500 k6-2 with a 100 mhz fsb.
and that is my old computer..
my dad needs something faster than what he has, but he says he doesnt...
but when i can open photoshop on my computer, and render something umpteen times faster than him, and he does that for a living...man...
