I run XP SP-2 (new system) and now randomly get the message:

The Eplpdx02 service could not be started. When the system reboots. Usually
this shows up after the screen suddenly goes black and reboots itself also
telling me I've had a serious error. Printer is an Epson 2200 plugged in to a
USB2 port. DO have most recent up to date drivers for SP-2.

Any ideas?

Did you do a complete uninstall and reinstall?

Of course, in fact I did it again tonight. Disconnected printer and all. Upon
reboot, system went to blue STOP screen, did dump and then I rebooted again
to same message. I've done all google searches. Printer has worked fine for 1
1/2 yrs on old PC w/Win Xp. Difference = New PC (which means different board,
etc) and Service Pack 2 being installed. Again, always ensure current
drivers. Something still in registry? An undeleted folder, inf file??? Maggie

I didn't copy the text portion - the rest: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,
0x804E194E, 0xF268187C, 0x00000000) suggestion made to check bios, if this is
the first time then reboot, etc.. called Epson, they claim nothing to do with
them, corrupted MS files (always someone else) This "new" PC has been my
nemesis. Has an Intel "Prescott" board known to be allergic to XP SP-2.
Loaded special update prior to SP-2. Oddly enough, tonight PC was turned on,
got dinner going, came back to log in & no errors. P.S.-cleaned registry of
printer files as well this morning. Will do (another) clean install of
printer drivers this evening and see if errors stay away. Thanks for
following.
