Hi everyone. I'm working on refitting two old computers for office use. First off, we have this Intel based system.

-Spacewalker Motherboard Hot661P w/440BX Chipset
-Intel PentiumII at 300Mhz
-1 stick of 128MB PC-100 SDRAM
-Sound Blaster 16 ISA
-Trident PCI Graphics Card

AMD Based System
-Spacewalker Motherboard Hot 591P
w/VIA VT82C598MVP Chipset and VT82C586B Chipset
-AMD K6-2 at 400Mhz
-1 stick of 64MB PC-100 SDRAM
-SB16 PCI
-Nvidia TNT2 Vanta 8MB

I'm thinking of upgrading the chipset with a slot1 converter cards, and putting in a 1.0Ghz PentiumIII Coppermine. I want to possibly increase the RAM to 1 stick of 256MB PC-133 SDRAM. Next, i'm not sure about graphics, but I want to ditch the PCI graphics and stick in atleast a 32MB Geforce2 MX. Finally, I am considering overclockng the FSB from 100 to 133. I heard from some friends that the BX was easy to overclock to 133Mhz.

For the AMD system. I want to do something about the processor. I'm not sure how much I can upgrade the processor since it is the good old Socket7. I am definately getting atleast 256MB of SDRAM. An upgrade to a geforce2 gts 32MB. This will probably get more usage.

I'm looking for any suggestions here to upgrade the systems, as they are very outdated, but have sufficient room for imporvement.

I would get 32MB ATI Rage Furys and pump both up to 256MB of memory.

That should be enough for them. More and you might as well be spending money on new systems.

Isn't the Geforce2 MX better for price (same price)? Otherwise, what should the upgrade for procesors be? I don't want to get 2 new systems =/

The BX is easy to overclock to 133, as long as your board supports it (I beleive yours does). PCI remains stock at 33MHz, but AGP goes up to 89MHz, requiring a reasonably recent video card (anything from the MX up). But you'll need to use PC133.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

What about the AMD system? I can't find anything faster than an AMD K6-3 at 550Mhz for Socket7. I am a little disappointed that AMD has no support for the K6-3 anymore. Ideas suggestions for Socket7?
