Stability problems

Does anyone know what to do about the following. My system is equiped with two harddrives a CDrom and CD/RW (Philips PCRW2010 with seamless link) When connecting the two CD's on a different IDE controller I have serious stability problems. About every 45mins my systems crashes. When I put the 2 CD's together the problem is less but then I can't use my CD/RW's full potential. (System: Abit motherboard with Intel PIII 1GB => 512MB SDRam)
I've already tested the Memorysticks and the function well...Could this be a IDE controller failure?

Probably nothing more than an IDE conflict from the master and slave devices asking for priority.

For CD to CD stuff, keep the drives on seperate channels. Try to keep the CD-RW on master secondary channel.

Try this:

HDD 1 (fastest HDD) - Primary master.
CD-ROM/DVD - Primary slave.
CD/RW - Secondary Master.
HDD 2 - Secondary slave.

Another thing may be to try enabling or disabling the DMA boxes on the CD devices. Sometimes this can have side effects, but you can always revert to your old settings.
