I had a athlon 700 that i burnt up overclocking to 1ghz back in the day and it has a bunch of chips on the core edges. Is that from the many times I put on and took off the alpha hs or from moving it with the hs on it without a shim?
Also if theres a good shim out there for athlon xp tell me where
"dude your getting a dell", is that kid trying to say he wants to stick his 'dell' in you?
well, it can be from both...
but most likely it is from taking it off and putting it back on.
but when you moved it, did you bump it a lot, or did you carry it like a newborn baby?
because if you carried it like a newborn baby, then it was probably from removing and resinstalling the heatsink.
but if your computer took a few good bumps, then it is probably from the lack of a shim.
and a good shim that will fit on an athlon xp is <A HREF="http://www.thermaltake.com/products/accessories/simXp.h..." target="_new">this one</A> you can buy it <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufa..." target="_new">here</A> just click on the copper shim, it is 5 bucks, plus a little shipping, but it is worth it to save your 200 dollar cpu!
so glad to hear that you didnt loose the cpu to a chipped core, and sorry to hear that you lost it in overclocking.
