I have an Epox 8K7A+ and my heatsink was one of thos Titan twin cooler. When i removed it for cleaning somehow it broke the middle, opposite to the core, hook of the soket. I don't know if the cooler is too bad or the socket too weak.
Any ideas on how to attach a cooler again? or wich cooler can i use? cos all i have seen has boths clips in the middle hook .
thanks in advance.

Hmm, I'd just get an Alpha PAL8045, and you'll avoid future problems similar to this. Just make sure your board supports it.

I've had same problem, using my DragonORB3. I broke 2 hooks on the one of the sides (middle and "upper") while i was removing it to put new alpha.
Also EpoX mobo - model 8KHA. I think that Epox have crappy plastic material from which it makes sockets.
Try to find replacable socket in some stores, or buy "screw mechanism" cooler :), or new Mobo :))
BTW: Titan coolers sux.

My case temperature IS "Hell on earth"!

if your board has holes around the Socket then buy a screw-on HSF, no need to clips then...

Well first of all thanks you all for your help..im looking after one of those coolers you recommended me, also i've found another one that looks interesting and fits in a 2 hook socket..its the Swiftech MCXC370 what you think about it?

also I've found someones solution to put a common HS in a socket with the middle hook lost..maybe any of you find it interesting :)

i like that way to fix it...here it is clickable
but i also found another way to fix it..http://www.geocities.com/awldune/lug.html
pretty cool....and lets you use a normal heatsink.
either way should work fine.
or there is (like stated in previous responses) always the option of using the mounting holes, or getting something that uses the other tabs also.

I bought this cooler at Nexfan.com as a backup for just the problem you described. It turned out to be a better cooler than the cooler I was using. Later I added a Delta fan and now it keeps a Tbird at 1500mhz (150*10) at temps from 39 degrees to a max of 46 degrees (running Toast). It's called the Galaxy GC21 and has a 6-tab clip. To get an idea of the performance level, the heatsink is identical to the Thermaltake Volcano 5.

By the way, with the stock fan, temperatures are only a couple of degrees higher than with the Delta fan. Despite the $4.99 price it's a good heatsink.

Yeah, and I have to agree with that. I too had an anchor break off on an 8KHA+ mobo, causing a recently purchased XP 1800+ to completely fry. The ultimate solution? A board mounted, Swiftech MC462.
