i just ordered a readon 8500 retail. I gat it for like 150 or 160 from pricewatch. Has anyone overclocked their retail board and had stable results? if so please let me know about it.

I can get my Radeon 8500 with 3.6ns RAM to run at 300/300. With the newer 3.3ns RAM Radeon 8500s, you can probably get them up to 300/320 or even 330.

I have the retail with 3.3 and 300/312 is stable 300/330 I get some artifacts and 3dmark2001se crapped out on the second to last test.. and at 330/330 too many artifacts to use at all..YMMV

are they 275 stock? what software did you guys use for to overclock it. I have never overclocked anything before (my computer is to old) and is there a performance increase that you see with those extra 25 or so mhz?

Have you tried 320MHz RAM lagger? Also, have you tried 320 core? Don't jump up in speed too high. Most 3.3ns R8500s can do 300/320 or even 320/320, but only a few can do 330/330. Just move up slowly and post your 3DMark2001 scores as you go please.

I have a retail Radeon 8500 running at 294/294 without any cooilng modifications to the card using Powerstrip (a shareware app that lets you set the memory and clock speed), and I saw a 10% performance boost over the stock 275/275. Since it doesn't hurt anything to overclock to a reasonable level, I'd say go for it. Get better performance for the same price.

What program are you guys using to find out the core and memory speeds? I'm new to OC and I have a retail All in wonder 8500DV and I think it should be the same as the normal 8500s.

I use PowerStrip, which is shareware. Do you mean you've overclocked your All in Wonder card? Because from what I understand, the AIW line is clocked a lot lower than the retail boards, down around 230MHz memory and core, vs. 275/275 for the retail boards.
