At the risk of being flamed, I wish to offer support to those who may
have the problem I had.

I have a linksys wireless-B router (befw11s4-v4.0) and as of the last
week, the router has been locking-up or freeze up after a couple of
hours of use. After lock-up/freeze, no computers behind router could
access the internet-WAN, though LAN functions would still operation
normally through the switch function of router. Temporary fix was to
unplug then re-plug (i.e. re-cyle) power to router. Annoying for
some, but unacceptable for router in un-manned location.

After much head scratching and troubleshooting including swapping out
router with another identical unit and upgrading to lastest linksys
firmware (V1.50.10), I was unable to correct the symptom.

After noticing some "strange" router settings in ROUTER setup for UPnP
port forwarding, which I "did not" configure, I decided it was time
for a router reset to "factory defaults".

After resetting router to factory defaults and manually re-setting my
router configuration (instead of restore from from my router back-up
file), ALL IS NOW NORMAL again.

I do not know how the UPnP forwarding got setup or how it may affect
router lockup or freeze. The important this is that if someone else
has the same problems I had, perhaps knowing that resetting the
router, may be a solution.

good luck, regards J.M. Kester
