intel 850GB mobo with 1.7 can it be overclocked

before you start laughing at me for haveing a intel board let it be said i got my 850 board and 1.7 chip back in september for 200 bucks.i just got my 4600 ti geforce 4
and im pissed im only hiting 8900 on 3dmark 2001 so i was wondering if there was any way to overclock. any tips would
help alot.

intel boards do not allow you to overclock too easily. you will need a software called softFSB or setFSB (or one more is there - CPUFSB) to program the FSB in windows. check what clock generator chip do you have on your motherboard. its the 28 pin chip alongside a 14.318 MHz crystal. note down the number and manufacturer, and set it in one of these programs.

or this D850GB board maybe listed in one of these programs (except softFSB, it was discontinued was back in 1999) so it may be easier.
