I am a novice user. My printer driver (Epson Stylus Color 880) isn't in XP
windows and I don't have the installation disk. I have been trying to
download the appropriate driver from Epson's website, but something is
preventing the download. I disabled Norton Antivirus. I identified Epson as
a trusted site on MS internet explorer. Nevertheless, I get an error message
saying the file transfer protocol has "timed out" every time I try to
download. A dialogue box that is supposed to appear during the file transfer
does not appear. I don't think the transfer process even starts. Epson's
website says Windows XP has added a security thing..KB835732...that might
interfere with the process.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Will one of the other drivers in XP work
for my printer instead?

Attempting to obtain the printer driver from the European server did not
help. A friend with a windows 98 system had no trouble downloading the
printer driver to his computer at all. He emailed it to me, but hotmail.com
would not allow me to open the email on my computer. I am contacting the
printer manufacturer for assistance.
