I have a small Windows home network with two desktops running XP home
SP2 and a laptop running XP Pro SP1. I have a new HP PSC 1315
attached to the Dell desktop via USP, and I set it up as a ’shared
printer’. I also have an Epson Stylus Color 600 attached to the Dell
via parallel printer port. The Epson is also shared. I can print to
either printer from the Dell with no problem. On the laptop, I ’add’
ed both printers. If I print to the Epson from the laptop it works
fine, but if I print to the HP, it goes extremely slowly. The
printer queue for the HP printer on the Dell shows that it is spooling
for a very long time, even for relatively small files (but it started
spooling immediately after the print job was submitted from the
laptop). It eventually prints, but it takes a very long time. Any
ideas?
