Printer icon in notification area not showing

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax (More info?)

I have a problem with the printer icon in the notification area. It isn't
displayed when printing to a network printer. I have looked in the Printer
Server Properties and the box for network notifications is checked. Also
walked through KB831582 with no succes either. System is running Windows XP
Sp1 English with updates installed until oktober 2004.

Firewall is disabled through Group Policy. Thanks for the reply!
