I'm experiencing lag in goodspring or other areas with buildings. In other areas I get 60 fps but in goodspring it drops to like 30 fps. I found out that the Object Fade makes it lag if I got it higher than 2 (Max 15). I'm able to play it then but I just hate it that I have to step right infront of the house to see it. Does someone know how to fix this problem? I'm running it on highest settings on 1920x1080 and I think that my PC is enough powerful to run this game on highest settings.

Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 3,2 GHz
Deep Cool ICEEDGE 400 NI
4 GB of RAM DDR2, 800Mhz
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6870, 1 GB, 940/1185 Mhz
Corsair 600CX ATX 600W
ASRock G31M-S
Case Fan Led AK-170CB-4BLS 80 mm
Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit
LG 23,6" LCD W2443T-PF
5.1 Microlab FC 360

Thanks :)

yeah your system should be plenty for ultra on new vegas, ive had many similar issues with bethesdas engines though, they seem to require alot of config tweaking to optimize cpu operations correctly.
These should help perfomance with multi-core cpus:

bUseThreadedBlood=1
bUseThreadedMorpher=1
bUseThreadedTempEffects=1
bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1
bUseThreadedAI=1
bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1
bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1
bMultiThreadAudio=0
iNumHavokThreads=5
iNumHWThreads=4

those can be entered (overwrite existing if they are already there) under the [general] section of this file:
