Hey, guys, long time reader, first time poster here ;-)

Can anyone give me any info on how high performance laptops are cooled? Links to websites and stuff would be great too...thanks!

laptops use mobil cpu's they are designed specificaly to run on less power and generate less heat. most of the time they have a heatsink and a fan in the back sucking air from inside the case to the outside.

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

Ok, well actually, this is a little research project for my Heat Transfer class...we have to do a little report on advanced laptop cooling (thermal syphons, etc) and I was hopin for a little help from the Toms Hardware crew...

Laptops dont have any special cooling, they just use low power components and components that power down when they get too hot or when they are not being used. Mobile CPU's reduce their MHz, HDD's are smaller (2.5" instead of 3.5") they are made to be rugged and reliable.
