If you have a 1st generation Core i3 CPU with the Intel HD graphic core, then I would say no to all games. I don't know how demanding COD MW3 is though.

If you have a 2nd generation Sandy Bridge Core i3 CPU with the Intel HD 3000 graphic core, then it is possible to play Skyrim on low settings with okay frame rates. However, Bethesda games do not recognize Intel integrated graphic cores so you need to download a D3D9.dll file originally created for Oblivion. It think it tricks the game into thinking you have a nVidia 9600GT graphic card. You need to lower the settings since the HD 3000 is definitely nowhere near as powerful as a 9600GT.

Assuming you do have an Intel HD 3000 graphic core, then you should be able to play the Mass Effect trilogy. For the hell of it, I completed Mass Effect 3 on my laptop using the Intel HD 3000 graphic core instead of the GT 550m and I found the game to be quite playable given the relatively weak Intel HD 3000.

You can completely forget BF3, you need at least a descent mid range card to run that game at a playable framerate.

Battlefield 3, as most modern PC games are just simply out of reach for an Intel HD 3000 I'm afraid. Some older games might run well however. If you want to try some good old PC games, try Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate 1&2, Planetscape Torment, Call of Duty, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1&2, etc...

you could play games like league of legends but if you were thinking about playing BF3 you'd be better off getting it for console if you own one. even if it was playable on lowest settings you'd get some nasty low framerates and it would just get annoying for you, especially if you were considering playing it online.

Nasty low framerates? He probably wouldn't even be able to open the game, if he could he would probably get 1fps and blank textures.

For your laptop? You do realize it's not possible to upgrade that right? You're better off building a new PC if you want to play games.

Another thing you could do to improve frame rates is to download super low texture mods for certain games and on some, it's possible to edit their config file and lower the texture resolution, I did that, with Batman Arkham City and improved gaming speed which I was after and didn't mind losing a little quality in textures. This isn't possible on some games however.
