Not sure if any of you have seen this or not but these Jap's are claiming the world's fastest P4 at 4.0Ghz... that's pretty damn fast, would like to see what it would do on a benchmark :p

did anyone see the p3 3000 benches on toms site here? howcome the p4 2600 beat the 3000 in some cases? who cares if its 4000, the 2600 is still probably faster LOL I think the p4 is just tolerable of errors in transmission, at 4000 the errors are probably rampant.

P3 3000? Could you post that link please? If that is true... well ya i could see the P4 outbenching it even thought the P3 is at a higher mhz, FSB i'm sure is the diference in the two.

If you read the whole article, you would find out that clock speed isn't everything. Yes it is nice to have a high clock speed, but if you don't have fast enough memory to handle the clock speed, it is useless. 3ghz wastes a lot of clock cycles waiting for the info to come from the ram. Sometimes the turtle beats the hare.

yep the wonders of liquid nitrogen.

problem is at such a henious speed there is NO ram/chipset that can prive nearly enough memory bandwidth to fully utilise it.

You're an embarrisment to nature you know that?

Tom's test system at 3000MHz was severly hampered by compromized settup; they were not running the RAM at the same bandwidth as the CPU bus, which is almost a necessity for P4 performance.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
