i know there is a chipset cooling bundle over at <A HREF="http://www.3dcool.com" target="_new">http://www.3dcool.com</A> . it's under video cooling, but i dunno if it'll fit northbridge.

the crystl orb is hideously loud (i have one on my R8500)...i wouldnt reccomend it if you like a quiet computer...
anyways...vantec has a chipset cooler bundle...<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=129&manufactory=1453&DEPA=1" target="_new">newegg</A> has it for about $9.
i have that kit and i separated the fan from the heasink and i "stuck" it on top of my northbridge....the fan is very quiet so you dont have to worry about noise....i also cut up the leftover heatsinks (ie. greenies) and used them as heatsinks for my ram for the R8500.

I had a problem with my Shuttle AK31 v2,it has the KT266 chipset, the fan was making all kinds of noise.I found out from the VIA Forum other people were having the same problem.C-H-E-A-P F-A-N, and of course no one from Shuttle will even answer your emails. So I found a chipset/vga, aluminum heatsink/ball bearing fan, size is 40x40x10mm for $10.94 shipping and handling. It's quiet as a mouse and fits perfect.

If you have any, use some Artic Silver 3 under the heat sink (unless it's glued there instead of pins) - alot of motherboard manufacturers go cheap and don't use enough thermal compound. That should help a bit at least. But a KT266A northbridge doesn't get real hot so I doubt you are overheating it at 165 - mine runs at 185 easy (with artic silver 3 on the stock fan, KR7A) But I could be wrong.... good luck.

i have the same problem, nothing but the stock passive heatsink will fit on my epox 8k3a mobo, it doesnt get that hot but i MUST have the best overclocking rig in the universe! mohehehohohaha! anyhooo i at least want an active cooling kit of some kind cooling my deadly kt 333 chipset, OMG i just found the spot where the fan power socket should be! Damn you epox! talk about cheap, they could have at least included the 2 short pins thet feed the fan power! grrrr. when i ordered the thing i thought it also had an led like all of the other awesome epox boards, 8k7a,8kha. but it seems that only the + version has that comon guys! i thought i didnt need the + because of its raid but now im na angry beaver, oh yeah I am.
