.gif files omitted from web pages

Hi group.

Have encountered a problem with ad .gif files being omitted from some of my
webpages when viewing the page from certain computers.

When I view the source, the links are still in the code, but the <img> tag
that lies between the <a href..> </a> tags has disappeared.

Was thinking it may be something to do with ad-blocking settings in norton
firewall, but only
some of the images on the page are omitted while others appear as normal.

Incidentally, the problems mainly occur in the XP edition - both home and
professional - on a few clients' computers.

Thanks for any help,

Shane Breslin

Are the images that remain used with a hyperlink? I had images that are used
with hyperlinks removed from my web pages by one client's ad blocking system.
These are used for web site operation, not ads. We have no ads on our site, but
the dumbware apparently figures that any image with a hyperlink is an ad.

Norton IS will remove the image when it's not an image in the same
domain as the web site you are viewing - this eliminates the page hit
type tracking graphics that are location in someone elses network.

In my case, the image is in the same domain as the web site, but the target of
the hyperlink is not. I'm not sure, but I think the software was ZA ad blocking,
set on "high."
