I just upgraded from WIn 2000 to XP SP2 and spent last 4 days trying to
install the HP Laserjest 3200 All in one software. It worked fine on win2000
pro but not in XP SP2. First issue would not install the S/w version 6.0 of
HP even it said XP compatible on it and all the patches they had on hp.com
did ot work, it was copied on my C:\programfiles drive but not installed and
could not un-install (during set up it would crash error "could not install
driver" ). Finally with MS XP SP2 Tech help(Really good) got it un-installed &
HP support techs(unreliable and non-helpful) emailed me a non-published XP
patch that help install the s/w so now I can print but every time I run HP
All in One Doc Control Manager I get an error and it closes and a dilaog box
asks if I want to report this to MS. HP techs do not know what or how to fix
this? They are lost and tell me to get a new printer since it is out of
warranty?!!! I do not have functionality from my computer for the scan, fax
etc but can only print. This is a bi-directional parallel port direct hook up
printer to my computer. I have no errors in Device mgr or ports. Could this
be a XP or SP2 firewall issue? Do I need to open a port, I have no idea how
to anyways.
Thanks in Advance for any help or insight.
