This was the closest group I could find for this
general question re: the FAX service in WinXP -
I'm running WindowsXP Pro and have the FAX
service configured to answer the line after two
rings. It picks up the calls and pops the docs
out onto the attached printer just fine while I'm
logged onto the system working, but won't pick
up the line when I'm logged off. I get stuff
overnight, but would rather not have the system
logged on at all times if I can get away w/ it.
I can't find anything in the documentation locally
or online that says it's necessary for a user to be
logged in to rec'v a FAX, but that seems to be
the case here. Is it possible to change this? If
there is a setting somewhere, I can't find it.

No, it's not possible to change this behavior; someone must be logged in for
the Fax service to operate.
