Environement Windows XP prof, SMC wireless router several newetworked pc's.
I used a LIDE50 USB Scanner attached to a desktop (via USB). The printer was
in the network attached via cable to the SMC router. On the scanner there are
4 switches for direct print (copy function), scan OCR, File. Pressing the
COPY queued the scan directly to the printer queue without fileing or
openeing aditional applications. The cannon scan toolbox gives you a
selection WHER you want to print/queu your scan. All worked fine.
Since a few weeks I have replaced the printer with an HP1320NW laser printer
that seems not to work for direct copy. When pressing the COPY switch you get
the sandclock for a second and then nothing happens. When I try to select the
1320NW in the canon toolbox it bombs out. The selection of ANY other printer
will allow the queueing of scans as it should normaly work.
I am not able to select the HP laser as direct copy device. All other Canon
toolbox functions are fine (open scan program, ocr, save to file). Just the
one button copy will not work. It is timeconsuming to always have to start
the Finereader, save to file print ...instead of on touch copy.
I now installed some fake printers tested them as device for the COPY
function and the scan works fine, goes directly to the (unexstent) printer
queue without problems. If I select HP Laser it just bombs out again.
Insatlling the printer via USB or via Cable network does not work either.
Canon and HP SW are updated.
Canon tells me it is HP's and HP tells me it is Canon's error.
Now the question WHAT is the difference in the printer driver and queue
setup of the 1320nw and other printers? How can I install the queue/printer
to support a simple printer queue functionality? Any Ide for a workyround?
