Unable to Remove and Reinstall Printer Hardware Config

Once able to print with an HP All-in-one device.
Now can't see the device in hardware device list.
Adding hardware shows recognizing the printer but then generates a message:
"The printer driver is unknown".
New printers installed are recognized automatically and installed properly
and can be printed to.
The problem printer works as it is automatically recognized and drivers
installed on other computers.
So there is something within Windows on this computer that is hung up where
I cannot find the hardware device configuration and remove it so that I can
reinstall the printer.
