I have been successfully running Canon C3500 on PC with Service Pack 2
Recently, apparently after install of some SP2 updates, my PC is
"recognizing" the C3500 as "new hardware" and identifying it as a C5500. I
have had no success loading updated Canon XP drivers for either the C3500 or
C5500. If I install as C5500, XP seems satisfied, but I cannot print
(nothing happens when send test page). If I load as C3500, XP does not
recogize the hardware and wants to install a C5500. Any thoughts on which
SP2 update may have caused this problem. I could uninstall all SP2, then only
include non-offending updates?

I am experiencing vertually the exact problem after recent SP2 updates, just
change Canon 3500 to Canon Multipass F50 in my case. I've reloaded the
driver, etc. etc. nothing gets thru, even test messages as you said.

right click "administrative Templates" and click add remove templates. you will then have a dialg box with a list of templates. Click Add and this should open the Windows\system32\inf folder and list a number of .ADM files. From the list add in Conf.adm and System.adm. Close the Add/Remove temples box and you should now have the requied options
